National Rail Museum

Situated on Shanti Path of Delhi, National Rail Museum is a final destination for people interested in train and railway collection. It is a delight and a mesmerizing experience to visit that museum as complete rail history of India is locked inside the walls of that museum. Its vast collection and variety in a single genre makes it one of the best museums of the city.

Many models of train, engines, coaches and other parts of a train are put in a wonderful fashion in the museum. India’s first train that toured from Mumbai to Thane which had a steam engine is also there in the museum. It is one of the attractions of the museum and steers hundreds of people every day to the museum.

The museum can be separated from other museums as it is not just a single building but 10 acres of land devoted to the history of Indian rail. One of the sections of the museum is used to reflect the history of Indian Rail so that people can be made aware of various important events happened in the history.

Number of Locomotives and engines are displayed in the open so that as close experience to reality as possible can be made available to people visiting the museum. It also has a toy train travelling through the campus of the museum which is something of interest to the children. The museum also has Fairy Queen built in 1855. 26 locomotives, 17 carriage and saloons that includes four wheeled saloon used by the Prince of Wales in 1876 and also the Maharaja of Mysore’s saloon of gold, teak and ivory.
