Nehru planetarium is located in the green ambience of the Teen Murti House in New Delhi. Initially it was also the residential place of our nation’s first prime minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru and subsequently it was transformed into a museum to commemorate the existence and contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru. In the year 1964 Jawaharlal Nehru memorial fund was being set up that facilitated the transformation of this planetarium that is collectively the place for both the Nehru memorial museum and library. Jawaharlal Nehru always believed in providing equivalent and necessary opportunities to the children to help them acquire desired and aspired education and knowledge and in order to the same the prime objective behind the museum and setting up of the library was to promote astronomy education amongst the children.

National council of science museums, Kolkata undertook a project of optimizing and improving the technological aspects of the planetarium with facilitating an unparallel and desired infrastructure and related equipment. In an attempt to ensure an exceptional learning experience for the visitors the museum has been constantly provided with innovative and knowledgeable programs and sessions. For beginners in the field of astronomy and enthusiasts in the same field get an opportunity to experience the unmatchable workshops and events that are held in the planetarium in order to promote and give a comprehensive understanding of the astronomy as a subject. Also various shows in Hindi and English are being organized that help the visitors relate to the astronomy education and eventually lead to the attainment of objectives behind the planetarium’s incorporation.
