Jahan-e-Khusrau

The start of Jahan-e-Khusrau festival belongs to recent history as it was started in the year 2001. The festival is devoted to the memory of famous Sufi poet, Amir Khusrau. Amir Khusrau congregated his entire knack from Hazrat Nizam-ud-Din Auliya who was famous saint of Chisti Sufi sects in India. Hazrat-Nizam-ud-Din Auliya started the Sufi music in India and the job of revolutionizing it was handled by Amir Khusrau. The artistic status of this man can be gauged by the fact that he was the one who invented musical instruments like Tabla and Sitar. Major portion of the collection of Sufi poetries in India is the gadget of Amir Khusrau.

The festival is idealized and designed by the famous movie director and artist Muzaffar Ali. The performers of Sufi genre from all over the world come to be part of this fest. Many international Sufi singers and musicians show their keen interest to create magic with their talent. Listening to something as sublime as Sufi music becomes mesmerizing experience. The performance by Begum Abida Parveen, the Frank Sinatra of Sufi Music is the main attraction of the fest as her fans from all around the world wait for an opportunity to listen to her melodious voice.

The festival is organized in campus of beautiful Humayun Tomb. Lighting, sitting arrangement and music make the beautiful ambience. The ambience is built in such a manner that it compliments Sufi music and Surroundings of Humayun Tomb are like cherry on the ice-cream.
